5 Series to Binge-Read While Social Distancing!

Social distancing can become boring after a while, especially if you normally have a busy schedule and aren't quite sure what to do with all of the time on your hands. What better time than to binge read (or reread) a long book series that would otherwise have taken weeks, even months, to get through? Here are some series that will help you pass the time while at home!

1) Harry Potter by JK Rowling
Most people have read the Harry Potter series, but it's always good to revisit Harry and his world! The seven (or eight, depending on if you accept Cursed Child as part of the main series) books that become longer with each successive book will definitely keep you occupied while you practice social distancing!

2) Inheritance by Christopher Paolini
The Inheritance cycle is only four books (plus a companion novella) but each book is extremely long: the shortest book, Eragon, is 509) pages. This series tells the story of Eragon, a farmboy-turned-Dragon Rider when he discovers a dragon egg in the mountains, and his quest as he sets out to defeat the evil King Galbatorix. It's filled with action and, although the series is long, it's a page-turner!

3) Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
The eight book series follows Celaena Sardothien, the Adarlan's most deadly assassin. After being imprisoned in the salt mines of Endovier, she is taken out by the crown prince and the captain of his guard and put in a competition hosted by the king to determine who his chosen Champion will be, the person who will do his dirty work and kill people for him. This series is full of twists, turns, and suspense!

4) The Selection by Kiera Cass
This series is five books long as well as a companion novel and follows America Singer, who is chosen to compete in the Selection, a Bachelor-like competition in which 35 regular girls are chosen to compete for the heart of the crown prince. America was entered by accident, and travels to the palace reluctantly, sure that she will be sent home immediately, but could not be more wrong. This series is a fairly fast read compared to some of the other series on this list, but keeps you on the edge of your seat!

5) Grishaverse books (Grisha trilogy, Six of Crows duology, King of Scars, and The Language of Thorns) by Leigh Bardugo
All of these books take place in the same world, but featuring different characters and countries and times within the world. The Grisha trilogy follows Alina Starkov, who discovers that she has light powers years after others discover their Grisha abilities; Six of Crows follows six teenage criminals attempting to pull off an impossible heist, King of Scars brings the two series together and follows what happens after both series have ended, and The Language of Thorns binds together several folktales based in the Grishaverse world. These books are full of amazing world-building, characters, and plot, and shouldn't be overlooked!
